help with AVI. files

Hi, can anyone point me in the direction of a free download that will let me play AVI. files.

WMP10 won't play it

WMP 10 does play avi files

Try Tools Options File Types, select all.

Wmp does play, sometimes you need new codecs though. Its pants wmp anyhow very heavy, memory and resources. I really detest the thing its awful player.

it does normally but someone has sent me a clip of their holiday and it wont play it coz "it need to know the program that created it" :rolleyes:

Download gspot-> http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ then open the file with it and it will tell you what codecs are needed and if you have them

Could be a codec problem try vlc it migt work, it plays things most players wont play without certain codecs. Gspot is good program that shows the codec, bitrate of a avi file.
