final response on ppi reclaim process - what next?

Hi, I hope you all had a good christmas. I'm hoping one of you can give me your thoughts re the following:
I have sent the first letter in the ppi reclaim process, and got a letter back from the bank yesterday, to say they were not going to refund, and that that was their final response.
The thing is, all the data they referred to in the letter was not the stuff I was looking to reclaim. I had a loan, which I stupidly did sign for the PPI, once I saw sense after a few years I cancelled this PPI and paid off the loan shortly afterwards. For the ppi cancellation I got a letter to confirm cancelled.
A few months later I needed further money, so I took out a new sum of money on the old account - I did not have to sign anything for this. It was only since looking at this site that I thought I would check through all accounts etc, and i found that they had restarted up the ppi.
I think the account should have restarted at the position it was left in, and not at the original agreement which was years before - therefore I should not have been charged the ppi.
As they have sent a final response (it was the only one) - can I still go back to them to say the above and give them copies of the letters of cancellation etc? Or as it is a final response, is the only option to go to the FOS?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

On the loan side of things, I think you need to look at the terms of the PPI. If you are ineligible for any of the cover then you have a case for a refund of premiums that you have already paid. Furthermore, I think the bank need to provide signed copies of the PPI that you signed for on the other loan. I would name the lender as well, as Hummy has said. It may help. You may want to post this on the Loans forums which has some expert advice on Reclaiming PPI0 -
the lender was HFC. I will dig out the docs tomorrow and have a look. I dont think I signed anything for the second part, although not sure.
