We recently bought a house in a terrace of 6 townhouses, right next to our terrace there is another terrace of 6 the same and we are in a kind of circle "development" of 40 houses.
According to nethouseprices only 9 properties in the whole development have changed hands since 2000.
But in our terrace of 6:
next door sold in 02
ours sold in 03
we then bought ours in 05
two doors down sold in 05
next door was on the market again in 05
next door but one is in the market now
None have changed hands in the other terrace and only one other has in the whole development since early 02.
Does it sound like just a coincidence that there has mainly only been turnover in our terrace? I'm starting to get a bit paranoid! :-)
On speaking to the neighbours those that sold or wanted to sell seemed to have genuine reasons and one who has been here a while told me that they are "never moving again as it's too much hassle".
