Using a monitor as a TV?

Hello, have a techie question - sorry if it is a stupid question
. We have a 28inch TV in our bedroom, since decorating, it now looks really out of place! So, I was wondering, is it at all possible to use a Flat Panel PC monitor as a TV (we have a spare), without the PC Unit (another spare, it's old and grumpy and likes to grumble a lot!)? For example, if I plugged (if possible) the monitor into a freeview unit, would it work like a regular TV
Is there anyway to get it to work as a TV without the PC unit? The PC has a TV Card, but it just makes a lot of noise and I would prefer not to use it!
Thanks on advance to all!

It should be possible, though to confirm ask in this forum: http://www.avforums.com/ it would also help if you included the make and model of your monitor as well. It maybe that you require some kind of "conditioner" to ensure the picture displays correctly on the panel you connect your freeview box too. The afforementioned forums would be the best place to get advice from on this subject.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Why not just use a VGA tuner box?
something like

Thanks guys, will post on the other forum and check out the VGA tuner box thing.
The monitor is a Targa Visionary LCD 17 - 2.
Worst comes to the worst - will just have to find someone who is willing to swap a 20" TV for our 28" or, just put up with the moaning PC Unit!!I can say whatever I like here ...
