HiFi with Hard Drive....

Been looking at the Sony NASE35 HD which is available for about £203 online.

Holds 15,000 tracks and looks a nice piece of kit.

However, not really found anything comparable that may be an alternative.....

Any ideas or recommendations appreciated.

Friends just bought one of these - sounds good and works well, though I wonder whether the display (3 lines of text) is a bit limited if you like to search for individual tracks.

Can this be extended by adding an external usb or network HDD.
I already have over 15000 tracks on the laptop.

Good question. My CD collection would take me quite close too.

It can also play from USB, thought the port is front mounted and not something I personally would want to have permanently connected, or from a CD with MP3 files on.

It does not have a LAN connection. I am told that some other models\manufacturers do offer wired or wireless LAN connections.

As an alternative, I prefer having a small PC and a separate amplifier and speakers. More expensive, but also much nicer to use when you can see all my music arranged on the TV.
