someone has paid me by echeque paypal.
Can someone tell me what it is and why it takes so long to clear?
How is the person funding or sending this to make it an echeque via paypal?
Thanks

These are just like a normal cheque but easier as you don't have to go to the bank.
Paypal will email you as soon as the cheque clears, so like the post before said, don't send anything til then.
It takes so long as it has to transfer the money from the buyers account into Paypal, then into yours.
Nothing to worry about. 0 0

I was paid by e-cheque once, it took 7 days to clear - they say 4 days, but it's working days and unless it's a Monday it's 6/7 days. Ebay mailed me when it cleared. My latest echeque only took 5 working days to clear, in the past they have taken up to 11 working days by which time my buyers were starting to get worried.
Always tell your buyers what is happening, I often send a copy of the paypal mail and explain that I will only be shipping once the payment clears, I then re contact them in a week if it hasn't cleared and just explain that there is a delay, and i then email then when it does clear and I ship the goods.

Didn't know you could block them, BRILLIANT, thanks.
I have had several & they have all taken at least 11 days to clear. It really annoys me that paypal say will take 4 days.
Maybe I am too trusting but I send the item as if it is a normal payment. I presume the money comes out of their bank account straight away & it is only at our end that
 takes the time?
Off now to find the blocking function asap.
 Best wishes

I have a direct debit from my bank account which takes the money straight away when I pay via paypal. I once had to pay via eCheque when I forgot to change the credit card expiry number, and paypal said that they couldn't do direct debit because the credit card was out of date and they didn't have a backup funding source should the direct debit fail.
I don't like them and my eCheque payment I sent took 14 days to clear.
