Digital Camera Help

I'm looking at purchasing a digital camera. I've been looking at various websites and narrowed the brand down to Fujifilm. I have around £100 to spend.
I think I read on here not to worry too much about the number of megapixels.
There are a few that I have found but I'm just not sure which one to go for, hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can help
The choices are:
1) Fujifilm Finepix A850 £48.93
2) Fujifilm Finepix J50 £78.29
3) Fujifilm Finepix Z20fd £97.86
4) Fujifilm Finepix J110W £97.86
5) Fujifilm Finepix J100 £107.65
6) Fujifilm Z20 £97.98
7) Fujifilm Finepix J120 £97.86 Exclusive to Comet.
Thanks in advance.

What do you plan on using the pictures for: printing them out, sticking on a website, etc?
Higher numbers of megapixels mean that you can get finer detail when printing the images as photo's, but is less important if all you want is to put them on a website.I have no signature.0 -

Hmm... I'd probably disagree with you on that one. If all you want to do is put the photos on websites, then as far as megapixels are concerned I'd argue the number you get on a camera phone's overkill! I know on my ancient Canon Ixus v3, which has only 3.1 megapixels, I can happily get Jessops to print out my shots at 10"x8" (the largest most people will print out to) and they look fine. You can just about make out the pixels if your eyes are a couple of cm away from the photo, but most 'normal' people don't do that kind of thing with photos!
Most important thing by far is the quality of the lens and optics, and you generally get what you pay for in that respect.
No help whatsoever to the original poster (sorry!), but I thought it might be worth pointing out the phoneyness (sp?) of the current megapixel war going on!0 -
Why not look them up on www.trustedreviews.com I know some people don't even trust these sort of reviews, but you have to start somewhere, and they do seem to be fair, if a little ott for what I want. The other interesting thing is that Fuji, as far as I know, still do recon cameras, with normal warranty, etc., at quite a saving.0

You also have to take into account the use of the camera, beside megapixel and lens.
Some are better dealing with some colours than others. Other do really good closeups, others good in low light, others good a distance, others have a great telescopic lens and some have a good film mode. Then the is low light, and indoor and outdoor issue.
Then thare are the camera specs and then there are the cameras usable specs
I believe that canon do great all-rounders, but can be beaten for a 'niche' usage.GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
I have a Fuji finepix A350 and it's pretty crud TBH especially indoors in low light. I've read that the sony compacts are pretty damn good.0

https://www.dpreview.com is a good review site. Although it can be a little in depth. Personally, I've had a Fujifilm camera in the past and it was pretty good. It only got replaced last year as the battery wopuldn't hold charge and it was fairly basic. I bought a Panasonic, they tend to get decent reviews as the lenses are designed by Leica (or at leats approved by them). Other than that Canon are good.
You need to decide which features you want and then look at the ones you've listed and see waht meets the criteria. Then check reviews to see if they're any good.
Judging by this group test of budget compacts you can ingnore the Fujifilm Z20fd for starters. The Panasonic and Sony both look good bets though. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
