Hi all,
I want to upgrade my router, the one I have has a very low signal all the time even if I am on the laptop in the room next to the office, which is were the router is,
I am on Virgin 10mbps broadband
The router is on the main pc, my son has his xbox running, though this is wired, then I have a laptop, ds and ipod, so I am looking for one with a good signal strength and can cope with running all the devices together
Are the ones that Virgin are giving away any good, I know it's only for new customers but thought it might be worth a call to try my luck if they are any good that is,
Can anyone give me any ideas which one to go for
Thanks

I've got Virgin cable too and use the Netgear WGR614. I've nothing but praise for it. Super easy to set up and to secure. Never had a problem.
Edit - save £2.60 and go to amazon0 -
I have 10meg Virgin broadband. I run a Wii and 2 computers with the D link router. No problems at all. This is the model.

I am also with Virgin and use the router they provide (It's a Netgear, think it's the one in post 5). They normally charge £40, but when I rang them up to ask about it I said that a friend had been given one for free, so they offered me one for half price. I said I'd think about it, rang back about an hour later to order it and this time was offered one for free without even having to ask! It is very simple to set up and works fine with everything we run (laptops, pc, wireless printer, wii, ps3). If you can get one for free, you haven't got anything to lose by giving it a try.0

Thanks all for your replies
Will ring Virgin this morning to see if I can sweet talk them into giving me one
Will let you know how I get on,
Thanks again0 -
Just rang Virgin to try and get a free router with no joy
She was having none of it, stupid woman told me to go to pc world and ask them
So looks like I will have to go and buy one,0 -

If at first you don't succeed.
Keep ringing back until you speak to a woman who is not stupid.
