black-saturn wrote:I usually save mine up all year for xmas. I collect as many bonus points as I can. I get my phone credit from Boots as I need it anyway so I might as well get some cash back on it. I collected £44 last year and this year I have £11 on it already :j
I save mine up too then wait for the very end of the sales and stock up.
Last week I went to Boots with large shopping bags and filled 4 with very cheap items for no cost!!! Kids happy as they had sweets/make up/smellies and I had all sorts.
Happy shopping!!0 -
I also save the points up as long as I can, looking for special points deals. I don't often spend the points on small items but use them to buy a more expensive item - one of the items I paid for with points last year was an electric razor (half price on offer) for my husband.
I really wanted to get a new digital camera after Christmas but many of the instore deals had sold out. I spotted the one I fancied on the Boots website (the Samsung DIGIMAX U-CA5 reduced to £99). I phoned branches in the area but no luck.
Then my husband asked a particularly helpful SA in one branch, who gave him the Customer Services telephone number. They did a search of branches to find any that had the camera in stock. Bingo - one available within an easy drive!
So to anyone who is in a similar position of spotting the bargain on the website but not instore - try that option and maybe you will be lucky too!0 -

def couldn't use points on boots nappies - till says can't redeem. sa even checked as she didn't know so maybe is a recent thing. will be able to use reusables soon anyway - ones we have slightly too big at mo!Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0 -

im not convinced i save that much BF, i do it for my baby's health not money but still....
i spent around 100 for a manual pump, steraliser, bottle warmer, bottles, etc, £75 on electric breast pump (avent uno), £10 on lanisoh, £3.99 a week on breast pads, £40 on 4 nursing bras £7 on breast feeding freezing cups (via by avent) etc. etc.
but its worth it, BF is best
Edit: and yes i think these are essential items. the more help you have the longer you last and the easier it is. if they wanna encourageyou they should make it as easy as possible!
i breast fed my first one til she was two!!! as she just wouldnt take the formula nor cows milk later on.....apart from a couple of good nursing bras and a box of breast pads for the first couple of weeks until bf was established i didnt use any of the above.....all these gadgets you can buy now...however did we women manage before!!0 -
pdoff wrote:i agree & did it with ds1 but this time baby had probs & would not feed from me. i don't want to get into the bf vs. bottle debate but just pointing out that is not always possible to breast feed & hate the way companies make u feel even more guilty than u already do by "penalising" u 4 bottle feeding.

think that (least it use to be) goes for pampers too...for some reason you can only buy huggies nappies with advantage points.0 -

i admit that if forced i could prob go without but without things like my breast pump and all the things that go with it, i prob wouldnt have been able to keep going and thought 'my nipples hurt too much' at least with the pump and things i could have some relief. i just think anything that makes it easier should be made cheaper to encourage people. esp as the people who are least likely to BF are young uneducated women in low income families. as im young (21) and in a low income family (although not uneducated as i have a degree!) statiscally i shouldnt be able to BF but i shallowed the cost of all the things to help me along and now bambino is 10wks old and we're still going:A Boots Tart :A0 -
I've bought Pamper with points - but usually buy them online and pay for them to get points and save me lugging them home:j Saving Money Is Gemme!:j0

I do spend them on small things sometimes, but only if I am not using an extra points for total spend coupon - and it is quite rare that I am not![size=-2] If this post was unhelpful, please tell me.

I have a system
I pay with cash for things that i have special offers on, ie, huggies as i get x3 points with parenting club, BOGOF offers, when im buyings things to make it up to a total spend, offers like pure moisture, sun dried apricots etc. etc.
I pay with points for things that are *never* on offer, like Avent breast pads, the odd drink/food, or things that i wouldnt normally buy but its been discounted and i wanna try it, like the Pucca tin i bought myself.
i dont really save loads of points to buy electricals at boots cause generally they're really cheap elsewhere like online etc. i do spend a lot of money in boots, cause i have a baby and like thier mini mode clothing, and my points peaked at around £40, but normally i have around £20 on my points card....
so if ever im in a pickle, like i dont have any money for nappies or baby clothes or ANYTHING for the little one then i can just use my points in a cash crisis.:A Boots Tart :A0 -
