Hope i havnt overstepped on this savings board ,but my daughter is in a state over a joint bank account with HSBC Her husband has taken her debit card of her and her wages / savings are in the account as well as his i might add. Her worry is that he will draw the total balance and run up a overdraft that she will not be able to service. Lets say he has some issues All she wants to know his what rights or direction to take to remove her name from the account at the bank to safeguard herself

thank you so the only option is for her to close the joint account completely , of which she can do on her own and start a another account in her name is that correct

It's a really obvious point but just in case it's not been considered already - open another account and ask her employer to pay her future wages into it. Doesn't solve earlier (and other ongoing) problems but at least she will be able to access her own money.0
