can anyone give advice on this
last aug l sucessfully had the ppi + payments deducted from my p/loan with the halifax after going to the fos
to date the amount approx £3, 500 is still on my p/loan l have chased this up sent in copies of the letter confirming this to BLAIR OLIVER SCOTT whom the halifax passed the debt on to earlier , they are in fact their in house debt collections dept [ B O S get it ??]
bos said they needed halifax to confirm this reduction and so far they have not done so ....
3 wks ago l had a letter from a company called CABOT who lo + behold have taken over this debt
l informed them that the amount they have on the debt is wrong , sent them the letter l recieved from the halifax confirming this and they are looking into it
my question is , that is this account in dispute because of the ppi prob and if so then were the halifax right in selling it on ??? l dont really understand how this may affect me
what should l do ?? any advice please
cabot have been VERY helpful + curtious as was blair oliver scott ..... but words fail me as far as the halifax

Quite simply, they should NOT have done this, although if all other procedures following default were complied with, they would be quite entitled to assign the debt LESS the agreed reduction for PPI. And if I were in your shoes, I would, despite the fact that they will say you are nothing to do with them any longer following assignment, complain to the FOS about them again. They have been total tw@ts, and there is no reason to invoke their complaints procedure all over again, since the complaint relates to the same thing.
To Cabot's credit (how that sticks in my throat), they will PROBABLY reduce the amount they claim you owe by the deducted PPI. But you need to ensure that they not only do so, but that they don't start applying any superfluous unlwaful interest rates, or interest rates based on the WHOLE amount. You know... the usual Cabot trickery.
Oh, and check such things as, was the debt properly assigned? Oh, of course it wasn't.... the amount stated on your default notice (if there WAS one), and the notice of assignment was incorrect. In other words, the assignment is NOT YET EFFECTIVE. Which means, that the debt is NOT YET CABOT'S. And that you are perfectly entitled to make payments ONLY to the original creditor, and to tell Cabot that you won't be paying them a penny until the whole mess is sorted out. It really is in their interest ('scuse pun) to sort it out between themselves and Halifax.Cabot can now kiss my DONKEY. Statute barred is enough of a result, but the actions of the CABOT FAN CLUB have cost them far more than the paltry sums they were chasing us for. :beer:0
