Can refunds be made to a closed credit card?

Hi
I recently received a refund from Dixons after months of wrangling - however they refunded a MINT credit card that we closed not long after the purchase was made. We have contacted MINT, who are not being particularly communicative to say the least! Am I right in thinking that the money will be being held in some kind of account, even though our credit card account is no longer open?
Many thanks

Could go one of three ways, money could either appear on your account as a positive balance waiting for you to claim it from MINT (this can still happen even when account closed), or it could be sitting in a suspense account at MINT waiting for someone to claim it, or finally it could be sent back by MINT to Dixons.
So not much help there! Have you waited sufficient amount of time for them to receive the refund though, refunds are notoriously slow to appear on credit cards?0 -
thanks - i was told that the refund was made at the start of november - so will chase mint up again next week
thanks for taking the time to reply!0 -

I had this happen once - I forget which issuer - they found the refund and sent me a cheque.
It's very unlikely to have been returned to the merchant, so the funds will be with the card issuer.0 -
