How to find a tiler / good quote..?

Hi all,

We just got our kitchen tiles today and I need to find a tiler. Ideally I would like to have had a recommendation from someone but we are quite new to the area and no one seems to be able to help.

We are based in Epsom, Surrey...can anyone advise of how much we should we looking at per square meter? (Thats how they charge isn't it?)

It really isn't that much tiling at all - the tiles are big, around 3 walls of an average size kitchen.

If anyone could help I'd be very grateful as I really dont know what to expect!

Thank You

This is the third time I have tried to respond. Don't think I will ever get used to Vista.
Just wanted to say you can ask in your local tile shop (we have a Topps for Tiles near here). Also, B&Q will give you some names if you ask in the right department - may "kitchens", they should know. Also, in this area we can ask people like Help The Aged
or Age Concern, they always know responsible people for jobs like this. It probably doesn't matter how old you are!
  • Or you could try checkatrade.co.uk, you can also cheak there refs of previous customers. As for price, about £25-£30 per m2 is the average.

Am I allowed to give a recommendation? I know the guy I use is not the cheapest, but he is the best. He has tiled my bathroom kitchen kitchen floor and is about to do my extension floor (both floors slate.) Google a guy called Chris Haswell, Topps tiles in Maidstone kent has his number, he does a lot of work in london so may well come to you.
  • Try myworkman, you choose from a list of tradesmen, put your area and a description of the job you have, and wait for them to give you quotes, most will ring you if you have put a contact number to discuss with you, also previous ref available (for most i think)

Hi my fella is a tiler in your area and abit quiet at the moment. He does alot of work around epsom/stoneleigh/sutton.

    heres his website www.cmdceramics.com
  • I've used a tiler who is based in Wimbledon (a friend of a friend). He laid 45 m2 of limestone in my bathroom. Not the cheapest, but not the dearest. The quality of work is superb. PM me if you want his number.
