Which ipod is best?

I got my OH an ipod nano for xmas. I want one for myself but im thinking a shuffle is more suited for me.

Basically i have stupid ears and those little ear speakers just don't even fit in my ears and also i work in a school so really i wouldn't use in for this purpose a great deal, therefore cannot justify the cost.

Now that i have seen the ease of my OH's ipod i want one to basically put all my cds on and the occasional song from itunes i download and then have it sit in a docking station and play all my music.

Seems so much better than your normal cd player and takes away the hassle of even making your own mix cd.

Nothing else exists for what i am after does it? Ipod shuffle you think?

  • How many CDs are you planning to put on it?

You are allowed to buy new 'ear speakers' (they're called headphones) - several types come with different size 'buds' for different ears - here's an example of some: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/271/351/-/880672/Sennheiser-CX-300-In-Ear-Headphones/Product.html?searchtype=genre

You might find the shuffle limited by the amount of music you can put on it - 2GB would only equate to about 25 - 30 albums
  • I don't even have 15 albums. Im not a big cd buyer, more so choosing to download from itunes at the moment, but more commonly is i listen to music via the pc on youtube.

Thats kinda why im after an ipod, cos i have so many fav songs on youtube but of course it means being at the pc and choosing 1 after the other. I quiet like music on when its just me and im doing jobs around the house etc.

But i hate putting cds on cos of course your limited to just that band etc.

Sorry about saying ear speakers :rotfl: , what was i thinking......

  • If you got an Ipod Nano, you might be able to watch those Youtube videos on it... you can often download and convert them

I love the iPod Touch, but I doubt it'd be suited to you.

Sounds like you need a radio
  • Did you read my OP at all Lakeuk??

I want songs I LIKE, not what the radio DJ likes. So radio = pointless

If you just want to listen to songs from your cd collection get a nano, is you want youtube then get a touch.

Theres also a great free application for the touch called last.fm which you can listen to any track you could every think of

Why does it have to be an ipod? They're over rated/priced/hyped IMHO.

You can get a 2gb Sony mp3 player for around £15. Then all you need is a set of mini speakers for under a tenner.

Very true, if you're cotnemplating the ipod shuffle, which somewhat defeats the object of buying an ipod, you should just go and buy a cheapy one. They're no inferior in quality, just functionality.

True if you are talking only about music. There are far better options for mp3 players including some good/cheap ones from Samsung and Sony which you can sync using WMP11 without the hassles of itunes.

However, when it comes to Video (where you don't have to deal with hundreds of files), the ipod touch 2nd gen cannot be easily beaten. It has the best ecosystem of any video player, and the best screen/playback quality and UI. Video podcasts etc can be easily downloaded from the itunes store (mostly free!) and synced to the Touch.

I used to be very skeptical of Apple products after a bad experience with OSX a few years ago, but I love my ipod Touch 8GB. Only videos on it. All the music goes on the 8GB SDHC card on my Nokia:D .
