Just seen the episode.
Unfortunately nothing new... E&Y still not budging with their stance on the voucher issue.
While I'm on it would be interesting to know how many people have posted the vouchers back and how many are holding on just incase there is a change of policy?0 -
Yeah, it's 19 minutes in...and nothing new. Sorry about that. I think they are scare mongering a bit regarding using up vouchers ASAP...I understand their point but some stores should be ok, eg Arcadia group, Boots, John Lewis, the supermarkets...0

The administratiors have also taken over another company who I will not name. We have been told to forget the thousands of pounds worth of faulty goods they have sent us. As a result, we wont be paying the bill. If the company doesnt exist to give us a credit, then logic, (if it exists in law) would dictate that we cannot pay them either.
As for Zavvi, it is unacceptable. The administrations claim that the voucher holders are creditors and so will have to fight for their refunds. However, customers have paid for goods that they have not recieved, they are not owed money. The administrators response to this was that the goods in the store are not actually owned by Zavvi. Surely that means the vouchers have been missold. Were the customers informed that the goods where not actually the property of the company issuing the vouchers? If not, they were missold and should be refunded. DONT EVER GO IN ZAVVI....LET THEM GO BUST.

They might not have the money, but they are still trading and still have assets in stores in the form of CD's, DVD's, Games.

The proceeds of which go straight into the hands of the administrators, and thusly distributed among the more important creditors such as banks and suppliers. The admins have a duty to try and make sure that no other businesses go under as a result of Zavvi's collapse, and from an economic point of view, that is far more important than refunding gift vouchers.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
On something this scale I am surprised noone had organised a mass protest at their Oxford Street store (now gone I believe) and just taken goods to the value. Very wide big doors there, with enough people there theres no way they could have stopped them.0

So you are suggesting mass shop lifting/looting on such a scale that a minor riot could break out, and angry looters would probably attack innocent staff members who attempted to stop them? And who is to say that the people looting the store have a genuine gripe? Half the people would just be opportunistic chancers.
I personally have £40 tied up in unusable Zavvi gift vouchers, not as much as some people, more than others, but I am fully aware of the problems facing the administrators, and I accept that I may never see that money again, but I would never resort to such ridiculous acts of mindless theft in some misguided act of consumer revenge.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

You're applying the Sale of Goods Act, but gift vouchers are not governed by that law. When someone buys a gift voucher they are literally buying a credit note from that store.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world
