Hi all

Grandson has been given an XBOX 360 (Arcade version) for Xmas.
Just £ questions :-
1) Can you use the old XBOX controllers on and if so, how do I connect them?
2) How can I set it up to access the net wirelessly? Do I need to buy an adaptor?
3) Can you retrofit a hard-drive to it as he only has the 256MB card for it so far?

Any help gratefully received.

As far as I'm aware, you can't use them with the XBox 360.

Yes, Microsoft make a wireless adaptor which sells for around £55 on Amazon. You can also connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
    3) Can you retrofit a hard-drive to it as he only has the 256MB card for it so far?

Yes, you can buy and fit an XBox 360 hard drive.

Thanks for that - it sorts out a few things.

BTW, if I don't want to connect the XBOX directly to the net, is there any other way of getting updates, etc?

Yes, you can download updates with your computer and burn them to a CD or DVD to install them in the XBox 360:

One other quick question, we only have the 256MB memory card.
Where does the Xbox store the updates as if it's on the memory card, I can see that getting full very quickly?

I believe you need a memory card with at least 128 MB of space on it.

Microsoft do have an offer where they are selling a 20 GB HDD for less than £20 to those eligible.

Thanks for that. I've put in the serial number and the console ID, clicked next but nothing seems to happen.
    Any ideas?

No idea; try reloading the page or using a different browser.

If you have a pop-up blocker turned on, it might be stopping it too.

    EDIT: Try this link:

Thanks - that new linked worked first time.
Looks like I can get a 20GB drive and 3 months of Gold membership for £20.
I'll see what the treasurer has to say.
