ipod touch and apple tv questions

I bought my daughter a touch for christmas stupidly not realising you had to have wifi connection to access the interent and itunes etc, we use a modem at home, it trys to connect to my neighbours wifi when in certain rooms but these are passworded and I am pretty sure its not leagl to do that anyway! Someone suggested connecting in macdonalds as its free wifi and she can download from there what does anyone think of this? I won an Apple TV gadget a couple of weeks ago would this help as I understand it is a router as well but I am not even sure if this is correct - frustration is certainly setting in so any help woudl be gratefully received - thanks in advance.

You can use iTunes on your PC or Mac and then sync to the touch through the supplied usb cable

Don't try getting on the neighbours wifi, it's passworded to stop unauthorised access to their connection that they pay for

Apple TV can't be used as a router, to use the wireless on the ATV it needs to connect to a router.

longer term you're better of buying a wireless router connected to your broadband - just make sure you secure it to stop people piggy hoping on it

Can't you just buy a wireless router? You can pick one up for around £30 or £40 these days.
