BT land line connection:money wasted?

I have been withTiscali for some 3 years with no major problems.We had the basic package with broadband and some free calls eg weekends etc.As we have spent a further £10 per month on calls we have changed to the £19:99 package with more free calls(anytime calls etc.)We can also save the monthly charge which we pay to BT for a landline connection as Tiscali can provide this without increasing the charge.

If we swap to Tiscali we will find it harder to renegotiate as we then will have to pay BT for a reconnection fee.Has anyone else made this change or even considered it.My simple Maths suggests that the monthly fee-saving would pay for any future transfer.Alternatively are there any other providers who would not charge such a large fee?

I am sorry to post this request as I am sure the arguments have been rehearsed before but at the same time the charging structures are fluid and the best solution can change overnight.Thanks in anticipation.

You need to be much clearer in explaining which company you currently pay line rental to, what package you have with Tiscali and what you mean by a connection/reconnection fee.

Sorry if my post lacked clarity.I pay BT to rent the lanline and pay £19:99 to Tiscali for Broadband and telephone calls(landline free if 01- and 02- numbers)They tell me I can get free line rental from them subject to a £30 setting up charge.I want to know if thereis a catch in severing my connection with BT.

You only have to read the many threads on here about Tiscalli customer care to see it can be a minefield

At least with the BT rental you can use whover you like, including call over ride codes
