Moving out in 2 years and ive come up with a lot of diffrent ways to save money (ill be 18 when i leave home) and prob on low income.
1) electric bill- Do washing ironing and drying weekly (or monthly if you have plenty of clothes) turn all standby lights off. Use energy saving bulbs. Cook weekly stews to save on energy.
2)gas (car) Use a moped. £30 a month budget and they got 100 mile to a gallon (£5).
3) gas (house/utility) Wear warm clothes. Use aunties fleece blanket I got for christmas :P so I can keep heating very low.
4) food. This is the best one what popped to mind. What about making myself a ration book? like if I have a full english no more than 1 egg 2 bacon 2 sausage half can of beans. Or serial to a 30g bown a day

Sounds good so far!
3. - I am also very mean with the heating and absolutely refuse to turn it up past a certain point! Lying on the sofa watching TV under a fleece blanket keeps you very snug and warm
Fo no.4, a ration book is maybe a bit drastic, you can feed yourself really cheaply. I don't know whether you will have a freezer or not but cooking a big batch of stuff like bolognaise, stew, chili etc is a good way to go, then you eat one portion and freeze the rest. It works out cheaper buying in bulk than buying a small amount of food just for one meal. Also, have a look on the Old Style board for ideas with food.
You juts need to save as much as you can right now - maybe practice feeding yourself on whatever budget you are allocating for food, that's what I did before I moved out.

I also wear a scarf or "buff" around my neck, always surprised how much warmer I feel. Other things that come to mind are slippers, hot water bottles and hot drinks (you could always make up a flasks worth to save boiling the kettle repeatedly) Closing the curtains before dusk to retain the solar gain. Using draft excluders and lined (ideally thermally lined) curtains.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
