Good afternoon everyone:j . Have done 2 week meal plan to last until the end of the month. Determined to stick to this, as I have a habit of changing this often, depending what is left in the freezer/fridge. Have done a MrT shop this morning and spent £53, but this is to last until the end of the month. Will only need to get f&v, milk, meat from butchers and eggs from the egg lady, plus pay for DS1 school dinner money, so should be well in budget(fingers crossed). The local butcher is now doing bulk buy discounts, which is alot of help, as we prefer to buy from him then the supermarkets.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41

After panicking last week about wondering where all our food keeps dissapearing to it dawned on me why we were going through it as fast as we had been. Basically my OH's best mate has been out of work since before xmas and he's been eating at ours most nights. I've only been buying the amounts of food i normally would if it were just me OH and little un, so problem solved, well not really coz i'm still spending more than i really want to.
Anyhoo i popped to s.field to pick up a few bits n bobs, got loads of reduced stuff and loo rolls on offer. Ended up spending £25 but should of been £38 if i got everything full price so quite pleased with that. My freezers are full to the brim now so should only need milk to see me through till the end of the month (she says:rolleyes: ).

DH bought an oxtail on Thursday, only £2 he said. Anyway after 6hours in the slowcooker it fell off the bone beautifully and has made a delicious gravy stewy sort of thing,5 decent servings.
Poor DH however is ill and doesn't feel like eating,so after all that it'll have to go in the freezer
Doing fairly well so far, spent £133.50(£46 to last 2 weeks but plenty in)
Went and bought new carpet and floor covering for downstairs yesterday,OK had saved the money BUT never thought about decorating first.Decorator now coming next Thurs:eek: SO have got to sort out paint etc(working all week ,meetings every evening:eek:  )
Bit like the Flanders and wotsit song.
Off to pack carp out of sideboard.

Got the Marmalade made yesterday, 6 jars stuffed away in the Cupboard now. Also made some Lemon Curd today and DD2 who hates Lemon Curd tried this one and loves it so I'm really chuffed.;)
Used the last Lemon to make MRSMC's Lemon Potatoes, we're having Roast Beef, HM Stuffing, HM Yorkshires, Carrots, Parsnips and Bread Sauce, will also do Roast Potatoes as OH doesn't want to try the Lemon Potatoesany spare roast or Lemon Potatoes will get used with tomorrow nights Curry.:D
Pips Mum - congrats on the new arrival,:j sorry missed that in previous posts, sorry you've pulled out but we'll see you back with us next Month.:D
Will be popping to Asda tomorrow for a small shop, need some Bananas, Bread flour and a Haggis for the 25th, although we live in Kent and the rest of the family don't eat Haggis I still like to have some as I love it:p and like to keep up the tradition.;) Won't be eating a whole one on my own so need to come up with some ideas for the remainder - anyone got any suggestions?
Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.:D
Just Googled Haggis and found a Recipe for HAGGIS LASAGNE and another for a HAGGIS SOUP, I'll convert the Family to Haggis somehow.!!"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to catch up but seem to be at least 10 pages behind!! Decided to just check last page and post cos otherwise I don't actually get round to it!
I'm over already but only by £3.83 and think I was being a bit ambitious as DS1 is home from uni (for xmas break) until next week and he eats enough for 2:rolleyes: . My month ends next weekend so shouldn't go too far over. Should only need milk and bread in the week.
Did loads of batch cooking today for desserts and lunch boxes;
Fruit loaf
Rice pudding
Rock buns
Fairy cakes
choc brownies
and decided to walk to Tescos for the few bits I need for dinners next week which meant I couldn't buy extras as I had to carry them home (plus I got some exercise:rotfl: )Did manage to buy a couple of packs of sausages reduced tho but there were a few other things I would have picked up if I was in the car:p Also saved petrol - so winning decision all round I think
Going to make burgers for tea - usually try to have some sort of roast on a Sunday, but I'm trying to use what's in to get me to end of the month and had some mince in.

Only my first post of the month but I have been keeping track of my spending.I had my monthly Asda delivery last Sunday and that came in at £147.Other than that the freezers are crammed and the cupboards are groaning. So its just been bits and bats and fresh stuff that I've bought.£11 at the market on Friday for Fruit and Veg and some choccy for the kids, and £23 today in Netto as I got 6 jars of Duerrs Mincemeat for 49p each, candied peel 29p a tub,Glace Cherries 66p a tub. Also got some prawns, cheese, frikadellen, air fresheners and some reduced choccy puddings.I 'll need some more fruit and veg next weekend but other than that should be me done and dusted and for once I will be coming in well under budget:beer:

NSD yesterday and only 73p today as I packed lots of snacks and a flask of tea for our trip to find snow.We found some but as the eskimos say the wrong type of snow so no sledging.I'm still sulking as I never lost any weight this week but I'm sticking to the blasted diet till the end...mutter mutter."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0
