I've been a bit of a spendthrift and my addiction to cola has hit in.
Yesterday I spent £6.90 on cocoa powder, 3 Kit Kat, Banana, fish fillets, gingerbread man and cola. This has left £89.87
Today I have bought Brisket, cola, 3 peppers totalling £12.55. This leaves £77.32 in the budget but I've got a £40 shop later on. This is going to be my last bottle of cola for awhile.
  • Cheers Rosieben... think I shall keep toiletries in - have other budgets for everything else already! So that will keep me busy enough ;)... OOo i'm looking forward to the Feb start date already!!

  • Mrs M - Please can you put me down for a yearly budget as well! £1440 for January to December please if that's ok! :) Have found a cheap source for massive bags of potatoes and have stocked up on toiletries etc so I think it'll be an easier way of keeping track of it inline with the £4k challenge :)

Mrs M, sorry to mess you about but could I please change my budget to an annual one of £1820.

This is the figure I'm using for the 4k challenge.

This will enable me to take advantage of the discounted deals etc, which might take me over on a monthly budget, but would be fine on an annual one.

This will also mean that i don't have to try and work out what I'm using when, and adjust the monthly figures accordingly.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

  • Oh dear, not doing too well this month . Already spent £97.08 of £150 budget and not sure where . We've had people round for meals on 3 occasions but these were simple meals that we were having anyway. Only managed 3 NSD so far so think I need to concentrate on having more of those. Still, we do seem to have plenty of stuff in now, so if we can just keep away from the shops (apart from milk-buying ) we might be able to rescue things. Here's hoping....

  • I think you may have got done by the butchers!! I'm afraid I work in kg for mince as I normally buy if a kg at a time!

Butchers cost you £5.08 per kg
    Tescos cost £4.35 per kg

however you do get less fat with the butchers!

Having said this if you can change butchers though my local butcher charges £3.98/kg and thats the 5% stuff as well. i now buy all my meat and eggs at the buchers because even if the odd item is more expensive I know that the quality is there!
Went to the butchers as I have to make Chilli Con Carne for DD's 18th birthday party and we are having 30 people round. Price for 10lbs of fresh mince was £3.00 per pound so £30.00 in all. When I said that was WAY too expensive he offered me 10lb frozen for £1.00 a pound. Now I know it is good quality mince - less than 5% fat, but Tesco are offering 3 packs of mince (each 769g) for £10.00 (12% fat). Have I got a bargain? Also after reading all the tips on this board this mince is going to last a lot longer than a big pot of Chilli!!

Well by my calculations if its £1 per pound theres 2.2 pounds to a kilo so its £2.20 per kilo. You paid £10 for 4.5 5kilos which is £2.20 per kilo

Sounds like a good deal to me and a better quality one too. Anyone else work it out like me?
