can anyone help? have paid for a holiday in uk and due to illness am unable to go. Can I claim any of the money back - paid depoisit and balance on mastercard

Sorry to hear of this unfortunate problem.
I do not think that a chargeback applies in this instance because there has not been a loss caused by the holiday supplier.
I would speak to them with regard to cancelling the trip, they may refund you anyway. Otherwise check your travel insurance which often covers illness problems.0 -
No, the chargeback system will not be of any use in your situation, as there is no fault of the retailer or merchant.
Try your travel insurance, they often provide cover for illnesses before travel affecting the holiday, failing that contact the agent and ask if you could cancel the holiday and use the deposit towards another later on..... (It is the season of goodwill)
