What a nightmare! Did they manage to take the keys? This happened to my dad 4 years ago - they walked into the house through the day and took the keys out of the key pot! The insurance paid up on that!

The fact that the police had been called and immobilised it themselves (although obviously not properly) should add credence to your claim.

They may come back at first with questions but keep at them! They are liable to pay.

Leaving a door or window open where a thief can enter, leaving your door unlocked or with keys in the lock or even leaving keys where they can be found (under a mat etc) could lead to your claim being invalid, so read your policy carefully, to make sure you know in which situations you are covered.
