Hi

Can anyone advise me please? I left British Gas about 3yrs ago, and went to Scottish power I paid up my bill in full, today I recieved a bill from British Gas saying I owe the final amount of which is £150 does not say when from any date or anything.

Trouble is as so long ago i dont have those gas bills to prove i have paid them up:-( what can I do to solve this problem, I am so angry as never owed anyone, I dont know what they are on about.

Sorry no longer have details but BRGAS had a major problem with the software house building their new system. In fact they sacked them. Wouldn't be surprised if they have lost/corrupted records.
Try going for subject access under the terms of the DPA. Quote any reference they have made in your 'debt' letter. They are legally obliged to provide all data, which should include all transactions (including the handover to your new provider). Any probs, drop me a call on 01274 688975 - Mike

Just realized what you mean:-) you mean the Data protection act?dont think it will be on there, I will ring british gas in morn see what they come up with thank you again suzy

Phoned British Gas today, they say its showing as me owing them and to look for bank statements, I told them after 2 yrs probably not got them now and for them to look back they have made the mistake, Grrrr why have i not had any reminders before this? the chap oh I see what you mean is a bit funny Grrrr so we wait and see what happens.
