Did I buy wrong cable connection for Toshiba DVD player ?

Hi there

I just ordered a Toshiba SD280E DVD Player from Amazon.

It is this one here

I also ordered a HDMI cable to go with it but now re-reading the specs and user reviews I think I should have bought a SCART cable connection instead.

My tv is a Sony KDL -26T3000.

As you can tell I'm not very knowledgeable about dvd players and connections.

Could some-one who is knowledgeable about these matters please confirm I have made a mistake. Or let me know I will be OK with the HDMI connection.

You need a scart cable for that dvd player
This THOR is the best by far for the money

BUT. For the best use of your tv you need a HDMI capable dvd player (Which that isnt)

Thanks for your very prompt response and confirmation.

If I had known better (or maybe had the sense to ask on here first !!) I would probably have bought a HDMI capable dvd player) but no use me now crying over spilt milk.

I can see that the THOR scart is excellent but, bearing in mind it is almost half the cost of the Toshiba player, does it make sense to put an expensive SCART cable on a "cheapish" player ?

Can I "cut my losses" by utilising a cheaper SCART cable ? Or in other words does the SCART cable quality matter when the dvd player itself is "average" ?

If so, can you recommend a cheaper SCART on Amazon ?

If it were me I'd look at returning the player you bought and shelling out an extra tenner on this one.

Othewise, any scart cable apart from crappy pound shop ones should do you fine. TVCables are pretty good.

Well I agree with Nick (NOT on cheap c*ap scart cables though). IF you can, id be buying a better hdmi capable dvd player
But yes, on ANY dvd player, the Thor is worth it (Cheap cables make even decent players look cr*p)
Id buy the Toshiba that Nick has posted too as theyre fantastic for the money

On the bottom right hand side of our posts
I assume youve blocked them somehow (Perhaps you use firefox with NOSCRIPT?)
