Trouble getting new credit card

Hi,
Having been away from the UK for a large part of the year I have returned to find that this year I am having trouble getting a new credit card for my balance transfers. I have always made my payments on time and have never had any trouble with this before.
Any advice, info or ideas would be very much appreciated.

May be a fairly obvious question but have you ordered copies of your credit file form the various agencies to see if there is anything amiss?

Hi,
I haven't as I can't imagine what could be amiss, I've been very good with repayment, never late or been fined, nothing to be a problem as far as I'm aware. I thought maybe this could be a problem others were having this year.

I think your problem is that you have not been in the UK so no Credit history for the providers to see.

How about approaching your existing bank for a Credit Card as at least they will see some financial history upon which they can make a decision.
