I am looking to buy one of these but am concerned by the absence of a view finder, especially with the sun behind me. Does anyone have any comments on this please

If the sun is behind you, then you are typically between the glare and the camera screen.

You can also ramp up the LCD brightness for such situations

I've got the previous TZ3 and was concerned about the lack of viewfinder but I haven't found it a problem in practice. As Ringo said you can increase the screen brightness to compensate. They're great cameras for outdoor use, not quite so good indoors but still good enough for my needs.

As per f1charlie, if you want a straightforward low price, Jessops is definitely the cheapest at the moment at £166.16 including discount code XMAS10.
