Went to Telford M&S this afternoon. Not much caught my eye tbh.
Didn't have to queue in the food hall either. :)

I went about 8am as I was passing and it was fairly busy, mostly middle aged women grabbing things, putting them in huge trollies then going to a corner and literally chucking out what they didn't want ( do we have a [banghead] icon on here :rotfl:)

I bought cushions reduced from £15 to £4, lots of girl's underwear and socks, some baby clothes (reduced from £10 to £3), a lovely cashmere pashmina (£39.50 to £15) and a cardie (£45 to £29). I also bought some leather gloves (£15 to £9) however I can't find them now and they aren't on my receipt! I spent £86 and got £225 worth of stuff.

Some bargains, yes, but I found nothing for my 4yo daughter except undies, H didn't get a thing and I didn't see many other clothes worth having.
  • Went to york m&s homeware shop today. Total shambles. Sale stock mixed up with normal priced stock. Saw a lot of things which were discounted on the net but still full price in store. I'll go back in a couple of weeks and see if there is anything decent then.

I saw this in a lot of the stores. I haven't worked retail in ages but we used to have to have all sales stuff clearly labelled and checked with a handheld pricechecker before the doors opened. We use to curse the boss for making us come in early but it made sense and kept customers happy.

I thought the sale in Peterborough was poor, left without buying anything.
  • Was at Castlepoint, Bournemouth at 6.30am this brrrr morning and the car park was heaving!! Which is shocking for those of u that know the size of that car park!!! Managed to bag some bargain undies for £4/£9 and a gorgeous velvet coat from Per Una reduced from £99 to £59 - bit naughty for me but I just had to have it. There was loads of really nice stuff there. Then went into the Poole one but because its such a weenie store there was hardly anything. I personally prefer to go to the bigger stores because you get the best selection, especially at sale time. :A
    Whether we win or lose,
that we played at all was a winning decision. :D

  • All the stuff I got I'd seen online, so knew what I wanted to look for (as was out of stock online in my size)
Got a coat down from £75 down to £39
Shoes down from £40 to £19
and an ice scraper for the car for 50p
and a basque...down from £18 to £9 which is very pretty.... but a bit of an impulse buy for hubby's benefit rather than mine, lol

  • Also went to M&S this morning and left emptied handed and disapointed, last year got some really good buys 2 coats from £80 down to £19 nothing like that this year.,love M&S but not going to pay £19 for a pair of jeans which is cheaper in there outlet shops will wait and see what next few weeks reductions are.
Felt generally all the sales are really poor went yesterday and today and bought just a rug and a few other bits in next and a watch with a fault from River Island.
Felt alot was old stock in next they sold summer sandels and thin bright shorts, also found a shops having a sale taking £2 off a £22 T-shirt, a few things in another shop had sale stickers on but appeared to go up in price then reduced in a 'great sale'
visited a large Superdrug yesterday shop opened 20 minutes before I got there nothing except some hair bobbles and a few jars of baby food available in the 'fantastic' 90% sale.
I think alot of shops are misleading us, but people are more savvy as it was fairly busy except Next which was packed but not many people carrying bags of goods.
