I don't bother browning in the oven. I just put mine in the slow cooker. Not sure about the broth mix. They might be really tough and inedible, no matter how long you cook them for. If they were up to 6 months out of date I would have been tempted to use.0 -
Hello, just need a bit of help here. I am going to make soup today with my leftover turkey and veg. Here is what I have left ....
Loads of turkey
1 carrot
1 onion
Bag full of potatos
Spring onions
Celery sticks
2 x jars of butter beans
Red Pepper
Tomatos
Stock cubes
Is the above enough to make soup. Also how do I incorporate the turkey and butter beans? Do I shred the turkey and then empty the butter beans at the end and then just heat it through.

Personally I would make turkey and rice soup, if you have any kind of rice in the house and save your other veg for other meals. Turkey and Rice soup is made from onion, carrot, could use spring onion, black pepper and some salt not forgetting the turkey and stock.
Then use the tomato, celery and red pepper to make a tomato based soup (remember to add a little sugar) and you could use the turkey stock and add the butter beans at the end after you have pureed the soup- voila Tomato, Pepper and Butterbean soup, sprinkle some chopped spring onions on the top to give some colour. I would saute the hard ingredients, cover with water/stock, bring to the boil, simmer 40 min, add the soft ingredients, heat through thoroughly, allow to cool and blend.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Turkey soup is the best, there's so much flavour with it. It needs a good simmering though. We made turkey soup this year from the wings of the turkey. We simmered them from fresh, much more flavour. It took about 1.5 hrs for the full flavour of the wing to come out, so be patient. If you're cooking a leg from fresh make sure it simmers for about 2 hours....that's the key to a good turkey soup.0

I have the turkey carcass left which has quite a bit of meat left on it so could anyone tell me if I can pressure cook the carcass to get the remaining meat of and make a soup or stew?
Sorry never normally do this but now DH has lost his job and is in temp employment I really don't want to waste anything that I can make use of.0 -
Yes you can. Suggest adding an onion and a carrot whole along with some pepper/salt and water. This will give you a good amount of stock that can be used for lots of things like soup or stews. When I used to do it, I would put it on with high pressure for 20 mins, let it cool down and check it. But that was an older type P cooker. Have not owned one now for a while. But I may well get one again in near future.0
