I've got a dog and a teenager and I smoke. There's no way I can keep a car in great condition so it'd end up costing me a fortune.

Deffo a strange one, who would want to loan a car for a year and be responsible for it!!!! I'm already lloaning a car OUT (to my son) perhaps he would prefer a......... no I don't think so lol

FarSide, I don't think insurance for this would be much of a problem as the Ka is probably only slightly modified.
Proper custom cars aren't usually too bad to insure as they tend to be classed as classics and tend to have limited mileage (my V8 hot rod costs about £250 to insure!).
