We went for the weekend in December with Transun and it was fantastic. I was prepared for an average package style holiday, but all aspects of the weekend were quality. 5 is a perfect age. They say not to take children under 3 because of the cold - it's also really expensive and they'll feel the benefits when they're a bit older.

The search for Santa was amazing. There were 20 children tops and we had to follow clues to find Santa's cabin. When we found him the children all sat round him and he called them up one by one. It was as personal as it could be - no queuing like you would in a department store here, for example. He was incredibly knowledgeable on all toys and brands and very gentle. The children were all speechless with awe. They all received quality toys too.

A weekend was exhausting, a day would have been a nightmare for me! We got time to play in the snow at the hotel which was all my little boy wanted to do - we could have skipped all the husky, reindeer and snowmobile rides and just left him in the snow with a bucket and spade  :D
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Let her keep believing - the magic will fade soon enough
    I haven't got one!

Just a tip if you are going to go with Cosmos (we went with them). In a few months time Archers (part of Cosmos group) will offer the trips but the cost is cheaper. May be worth contacting Archers for a quote as well as Cosmos, they are part of Cosmos but the cheaper version for some reason.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.
  • First choice and sister company eclipse [cheaper option] do Lapland too so worth checking out their prices too
  • Not been to Iceland but have been to Norway. Same sort of activities and Father Christmas and his reindeer came into the hotel lounge on Christmas eve to hand out present (which we provided). This was on a 10/11 day skiing holiday with Crystal. Basic holiday for two adults plus one child half board in the week leading up to Christmas was around £1800 with free child place. Hotel was Highland in Geilo.
So good we did it twice. This year Crystal were offering a week leaving19 Dec at around £450ea.
