B&Q Bath installed Faulty?

I bough a plastic bathroom suite from B&Q in May 2005, had it installed etc. At the weekend I notice a crack about a inch square. This is about 3 inches from the bottom of the bath at the front.
I still have the receipt from B&Q.
I know i didnt drop anything in the bath and was surprised to see this damage, but it wasnt there when i bought the bath.
Any advise on what I should do?

Report it to B+Q and say it is faulty and not fit for purpose as you haven't used it for anything other than bathing.
Unfortunately as it is over 6 months old under the sale of goods act you need to prove it wasn't faulty when you bought it, rather than it automatically being assumed.
It's highly unlikely B+Q will do anything unless they have had lots of these baths returned. Once you have given up with them try the manufacturer. At the very least I would expect you to get some sort of free repair from B+Q/manufacturer or a discount off a replacement from B+Q. Depends how hard you push.

I would have said you need to get an independent opinion - plumber? Someone independent of B&Q to look and see what they think then get onto B&Q.Weight Loss - 102lb0

The same thing happened to relatives of mine a while back. They informed B&Q who came out to investigate it who said the bath was faulty. They got their money back and installed a huge shower instead, they don't have a bath now as it was the second one it had happened with. If you have any problems with B&Q you house building insurance should cover the cost of replacing it depending on how the crack happened.0 -
Phoned B&Q and they say they will replace it if I bring it back .... only thing is the mess of getting it out :-(
What are the chances they give compensation for fitting if I ask?0 -
Surely it depends on how it was installed? Id have thought b&q would want to inspect the way its been fitted etc.?
At least ive just fitted a metal bath in my house, so hopefully i wont have this problem!0
