Disaster with Nintendo DS Game - Please help!

My kiddo's DS went dead (she didn't notice the red light) while still in the process of saving her game.
Now the game won't play at all (Pokemon diamond & pearl). The DS keeps saying to switch off, remove and replace the game and switch on again. I've done this many times, and it keeps coming up with the same error message and blue screen.
Is the game repairable? It cost a fair whack.

did you try blowing into the cartridge, and also blowing into the hole where the cartridge goes? Sometimes dirt causes dodgy connections.0

Thanks for your reply, but no it didn't work. The exact message is " The data could not be read. Please turn off the power, then remove and reinsert the DS Game Card"0

Thanks, that is the exact error, but how do I connect the DS to my computer and also get the software that is shown on the video?
AS far as I know, there was only the DS and charger in the box (my kiddo ripped open the box very quickly, and I didn't see a cable)0 -

Sorry - I had to leave my computer for a while. I'll try these things first thing in the morning. Thanks to everyone for replying and I'll let you know what's happening tomorrow. (can't think straight now).
Yes, one other game we have at the moment is working.0 -

Hi, I've been on that site, and it's only for USA users I think. The English nintendo site doesn't have any information that I can find on repair or replace. It's such a pity that I can't get hold of anyone on the phone until monday.
Do you know of an English program?
I've been doing lots of searches on the problem, but all the information I can find is on downloaded games, not the actual game cartridge.0
