no sound on comp

in Techie Stuff
my comp decided not to work so i reverted it back to an earlier date and it all works fine , but all the things ive installed arnt there and ive lost the discs so ive bought new, but it has left the machine with no sound. any ideas?????????

Double click the gray speaker icon, (bottom right next to the clock), are they all at the top? Is the mute tick box ticked?
If you can't see the speaker icon then go to Control Panel then Sounds and Audio Devices.
If it's still an issue then can you confirm if you've got speakers attached? If so can you try with the something else?
If this hasn't resolved it we may need to reinstall the audio drivers for your sound card... If you go to Start -> type "devmgmt.msc" with the quotes, expand Sound..., what do you see?0
