  • Not many shops would even attempt to try and offer this service.
Every Tom, !!!!!! and Harriet claims to match their competitors' prices, and many claim that they will beat those prices. Most of those offers are a load of hot air. You don't need to "have staff sitting about who can run all over town at a minute's notice at their busiest time of year to check out every single customer's claim", but you shouldn't be too surprised either if people don't like being fobbed off.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

  • The point in my post was that :
    1. It was their own web site - and although you find in small print not all offers are available in our stores - they clearly should have marked the item internet price only as do Curry's etc.

    2. I went through the normal price match process and phoned the store to be told no one would be able to deal with it until Monday when clearly many sale items would have been sold in the shops that were sellng it at £499 - so I would not meet the conditions of their policy. Most people do their retail shopping on a weekend so why not have cover for this period. Also the customer services hid behind the fact that they been told by management that Richersounds were not getting them in store so dont price match so they had no need to phone to check dispite me standing in front 2 for sale in the shop. I offered to give her the shop phone number and she said that could be any ones phone number. It this point I took offence as she clearly did not believe me. However posts on this site and others will prove Richersounds had them in stock and at £499.

    3. I could have walked back to the store add did one poster and get the retail staff to phone Richersounds and price match but it was over 1/2 mile and I had my elderly mother with me.

The John Lewis price promise is stacked against the customer who shops at the weekend at the Liverpool store from now on The Trafford centre store gets my family's custom as they are more customer focussed and you dont have to pay £2.00 an hour to park.
  • If you offer a price match promise you should certainly have staff available who can verify the claim asap...or what is the point of having a price match promise?

  • I looked at this TV at £499 at Apollo2000 (now out of stock) however I really wanted the KDL400W400U which Digital Empire have at £683 http://www.digitalempireonline.co.uk/model.asp?Detail=Yes&ModelID=2264. Not knowing much about this company, I didnt really want to buy from them so I went to my local empire direct who have the same TV for £849. I got them to price match the tv, throw in a free 3 year guarantee (normally costs an extra £30) and also a half price stand. So I got about a £1000 deal for under £750. Empire should price match any offer as long as it is in stock

I'd give Dalzell's of Markethill a tinkle, I buy all my electricals there and their never beaten by anyone. A bonus is that carry alot of stock, delivery next day for free and they actually know what their talking about.

Their new Entertainment showroom is pretty smart too!

LOL. A total of 4 posts on MSE...and every one about 'Dalzell's of Markethill'. Conclusion?

PS I get all my electricals from Trotter's of Peckham. Cushty...
