Freeview/Sky on combi TV/DVD

This is probably a numptie question but with a TV that has built in freeview is it also possible to use it to receive SKY stations instead of freeview?

No its not possible. Freeview is terrestrial, Sky comes from a satellite.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

As the poster above said, Sky comes via a satellite dish. So if you wanted Sky you would need to ring them up and order a subscription with them, or, get a TV person round your area to fit one. You might be able to subscribe to top up TV or whatever that extra package is called, you might also be able to subscribe to Setanta.

But if you want Sky you'll have to get a dish and a sky box. Same with Virgin if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you both for your replies - soz I don't think I explained myself very well. We currently have a SKY subscription and a large TV with separate DVD. We need to make more space in the living room and have seen a smaller TV/DVD combo which we like. It also has Freeview built in to this TV and my question is whether we could still use SKY on the combo TV rather than Freeview as OH likes his SPL footie?

Just wondered if anyone else has such a set up and uses Sky rather than the Freeview provided?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes just connect the Sky Digibox to the TV using a Scart cable. To watch Sky programmes, select the Scart input on the TV. (Normally the Sky remote can be programmed to do this but it's likely that it doesn't contain the necessary codes for a new combi TV.)
