Nuissance phone calls

I keep getting a call from someone offering me a free cruise (that they claim) I've won. I am on the do not call list on BT so I contacted BT and they told me the company were international and there was nothing they can do.

The calls are all automated and there is no-one on the line. It asks me to call a number to claim. If I call to complain, I'm sure the call will be pointless and cost a fortune.

Apart from changing my number, is there anything I can do?

I once accidently did not put the phone down correctly and they spoke to the answer phone for ten or so minutes

Say something like "great, lost my job, OH has just left me and become gay/lesbian*, and me and the 10 kids need a holiday".

* delete as appropriate

Or get a whistle and blow it down the phone at them.

Waste their time.

Start speaking in another language (if you know one).

I would continue to ignore it, i.e. don't press the number (just in case)

what was the name of the company? have you googled it?

Will tell you all the company name / number when I next get a call.

I would love to blow a whistle down the line, but there's no-one there - just a machine autodialing.
