Screen shot of what? I reserved it at £229.99 and the girl this morning said 'Well you reserved it at £229.99 and it is £229.99 - what are you expecting?' I doubt they have to honour anything as you do not pay for it until you go to the shop.

    Well done for getting one

I'd say its a very good buy. It won't record in HD though. The HD it refers to is hard disk (ie no tapes/disks to record on to) rather than High Definition.

It will playback on your TV in 'SD' though.

Thanks so very much for this jojopo000 !!!

I manage to BLAG one at £135.99 this morning.

Like everyone else when trying to reserve one yesterday they kept going into my basket at £229.99 despite it appearing on the "search for camcorders page" at £135.99 - sadly "they'd fixed" the price on the individual product page

I tried several times without success and eventually reserved one for collection hoping that the email might just say £135.99 and not £229.99 - BUT IT DIDN'T !!

Anyway decided I'd take a printout to the store of the search listing where it did say £135.99 but by that time even that had been fixed and it wasn't there anymore - shortly afterwards it appeared (to me at least) that the DSG website for Dixons/Currys/PCWorld put its head up its bottom and all but expired. Pages wouldn't load at all or took absolutely ages and had bits/images missing etc.

Anyway I all but gave up thinking it was a pointless exercise but then had a brainwave. :j
Googled for MG3354H JVC Currys - it found the product page where it was showing £229.99 - clicked on the link & checked that it was exactly the one I had been looking at earlier - took 10 minutes to load - but it was. GOOD !

Clicked back to the Google search results and clicked on CACHED for that same page. RESULT !!
Google's stored image was "a snapshot of the page as it appeared on 25th Dec" - BINGO !
The page I needed with the £135.99 price on.
So I printed it out, cut off the bit where it said it was from Google's Cache and took it with me this morning.

I said I'd tried to reserve one but didn't think I'd succeeded due to the website problems and delays in pages loading causing "session timeouts" (perfectly true). Anyway they found one in my name and it was taken to the till. When it came up at £229.99 I showed them the printout and the SA said it must have "Gone up" overnight. I said what was the point of "Reserve & Collect" if that could happen. A manager was called and he looked at the printout, the current webpage and the internal system details for it.
He said something about possible errors and online prices but then turned to the SA and said "Just put it through at that price"

So I got a "Discount: Manager Offer - Manager Discretion" of £94 :j

  • Don't think I could do that. I'd consider that stealing. But if you don't mind all that stuff, then congrats on getting the discounted price. I personally couldn't let a lie go that far, but if it was a misprint (Like the OP).. Hey, at least it's their fault and you got it at a bargain price legitimately. :)
