I know it sounds strage, but I'd prefer to buy a house WITHOUT anything 'tarted up', but from what others have said & your own comments, it'd more than likely make it more saleable, without spending too much £$£$£
& from the dozens of houses appearing on Rightmove website, daily, now we're looking to move, it'd be SOOOOOOO easy to spend a fortune & get it TOTALLY wrong.
The number of houses, on sale, where people have done one of everything,(badly!!) suggested by home doing up programmes, is amazing.
But, even more of a surprise, is why the agents photograph & display these 'improvments'!!!!
So don't over do it!!

I'm slowly doing my house up as cheaply as possible.
The house doctor always advised a mirror in the hallway and living room above the fireplace, to let in light and create the illusion of more space.
Alot of cheap mirrors look cheap, but I've just got a large 83cm x 62cm mirror from Wilkinson for £14.99 which is quite good. For the money I think it is a lot of 'bang for your buck', opening up a dark hallway, making the place look bigger, with a couple of quids worth of paint...
could be a case of spend £20 add £1K value.0
