HD Display for PS3 Advice

personally, if you want to watch blu ray on it as well as play games, then you're best off getting a proper HDTV rather than just a monitor, because then you can use proper HDMI Cables..

Is HDMI superior to DVI in quality (I thought they were about the same)? To be honest the Hitachi is beyond my son's price range and if he were to spend that sort of money I think he would be better off with the DELL monitor which has an HDMI connection, is a £100 cheaper, is full HD and only 2" smaller.
Thanks for the suggestion though, it is food for thought. We keep swaying between TV's and monitors. Will have a sleep on it and see if any bargains come up in the sales!:beer: .

HDMI and DVI are EXACTLY the same picture quality (So long as no connectors are used). But DVI has no sound.:idea:0

Hi,
We have decided in the end to go with the CIBOX 22" screen, only it is no longer in stock at Aria and seems to have gone up in price to £126.44 in any case. A search on the internet gives availaility at Lamba-tek at £108;
http://www.lambda-tek.com/computing/pcdesigner.htm
but I am nervous as it has precious little information on the spec and in particular whether it has a DVI connection and is HDCP connection. It is also advertised at PCWorld Business at a similar price;
http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/A0432090?cidp=Froogle
But it describes the inputs as - Signal Input D-sub, optional DVI-D (w/ HDCP). What does optional mean? It either has the connection or it doesn't?
Can anyone advise? Should I worry about the different descriptions?
Also has anyone got any experience of running these on a PS3.
As usual all comments gratefully received.

PC world link, check the impartial reviews, one buyer recommends upgrading to newer model with hdcp support, so would advise against buying that one. Lamda link not working. Microwarehouse have them in stock, never bought from them so can't advise but their doing them for £104.36 inc vat, showing 141 in stock

Thanks Satanic Hare, but I think that this is the non hdcp version as they also have the hdcp version here;

I think the hdcp version has a D after the C2202 manufacturers code.
thanks anyway, I think I will see if Aria get more stock otherwise will have to pay a bit extra. Serves me right for not going for it straight away!

Yeah you're right never noticed that, Ebuyer are also selling them for £119.56, showing 8 in stock and free delivery, will be super saver 5 day probably but an extra £5.34 for next day which would be Tues. Also a load of reviews and they seem to be very good monitors. Best of luck

Just to let you know I bought the following ACER monitor off DABS for my son on Sunday;
http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=5CTY&CategorySelectedId=11109&fb=246&NavigationKey=11109,50246,51790000
The monitor is all set up and working on his PS3 and looks great, a vast improvement on is old screen. He is well chuffed.
Would have preferred a black monitor to a white one, but to be honest once its on you don't really notice. Also wanted him to have the screen in time for his birthday which is tomorrow. The screen is working on 720p which as I say looks superb. Thought it might have accepted 1080 albeit slightly stretched but the PS3 wasn't having any.
All in all well impressed with the monitor and DAB's very prompt delivery. Even got cashback on Quidco.
Thanks to everyone for your advice. I wouldn't have had the nerve to go for a DVI monitor without your help.

Good stuff, very nice looking monitor and a cracking price, and good reviews from previous buyers, can't ask for more than that
