Hi all and Merry Xmas
Last night our Sky+ box started playing up, we went to watch something we had recordedbut it wouldnt play, had a screen like it was on pause. We turned it all off at the wall for a few mins and then re-tried it but still the same.
Also this morning when trying to access the planner it wouldnt let us, just kept saying please wait so have now turned it all off again and we are going out for a few hours and will try it again when we get home.
Have tried calling the techie helpline at sky but was on hold for a very long time and then just cut off  ( why do they do that to you when your waiting)
So was hoping one of all you bright sparks can help me out :A
Also we dont have the phoneline connected as about 6 months ago wwe caught the cable and pulled the wiring out of the male connector that goes into the socket. Its 4 wires orange ,blue , white and orange , and white and blue. can anyone tell me which order they go back in so we can use sky box office
Many Thanks!!!!

I've had the same happen to a SKY+ box that was not plugged into the phone line.
The Box freezes if it's not plugged in to the phone line for an extended time.

but i would do a rebuild on the hard drive by doing this
services then 401 select then 7 sky+ planner rebuild then let it do its stuff then once finished leave it for between 30 sec's to a minute and try again
if that don't do it try doing a upgrade on the box
by doing this
turn of box then push backup on the box not remote then turn the box on and wait till it comes up with all the 4 lights and let it do its stuff again0 -
This is probably a return of the bug in the last Sky+ software update.
Read this thread at DigitalSpy for more details, though it is a bit lengthy. Reading the first few pages will probably be enough as after that it is mostly repetitive.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=934809
Sky upgraded their software in November and the new software caused this problem for thousands of boxes, mostly Pace2 boxes with upgraded disks. The problem is that the new software does not allow enough time for some disks to spin up to speed and the box thinks the disk is faulty or missing.
Try this as a possible short term fix.
Turn off the Sky box and remove the mains plug for a few minutes.
Replace the mains plug and keep pressing the power on button on the remote every few seconds until the box comes on. It won't turn on for a minute or so but it is important to keep trying every few seconds.
Hopefully you will then be able to access the planner.
If not, and following the suggestions in that thread don’t help, then post again and I will try to help.0 -
Thanks for the reply guys,
Came home and plugged it all back in and works fine now.
Doing the re-build will it lose all the programmes i have recorded on my planner and updating? do i need the phone line connected?
I tried the link for the wiring but it dosent work, can anyone tell me the order of the coloured wires?
Thanks0 -
A Sky+ Planner Rebuild won't lose your recorded programmes.
A Full System Reset will lose everything and should only be used as a last resort.
Don’t use it to try and cure the “Please wait” problem as it is unlikely to work if the problem is caused by the faulty software update.
Hopefully your box just had a glitch and will now be fine.
If the problem happens again, have a read of that thread on Digital Spy.0 -

No problem.
Firstly, you want to try a planner rebuild. This is hidden away in a service menu. Do the following.
Press
Services, 4, 0, 1 then Select. You'll see the hidden menu now. Option 7 is Sky+ Planner rebuild. Select that and let it go off and do its thing. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes. If after 30 minutes it's still doing it, pull the mains plug and turn the box back on. Should be OK.
If that doesn't work, same again but this time option 8 - full system reset. THIS FORMATS THE HARD DRIVE AND REMOVES ALL RECORDED PROGRAMMES.
If you're still having problems after all that lot, it could be the hard drive is failing. You can either do a service callout from Sky which will cost £65 and should end up with you getting another box or you can change the hard drive yourself. There's plenty of guides on the internet.0
