    Unless you are determined on a particular style, secondhand shops are often a good idea. Usually much better wood/finish. Or you could paint them to go with decor.

    I need as many drawers as possible. Six or more preferably. I'm not fussed how they look as long as not too ugly.

    What sort of ones in Ikea were you looking at? £185 seems quite expensive for ikea. We've got these ones;

    and I think they are brilliant, I have all the Malm stuff. They were easy to make(even for me a mere femail;)) and they are good solid pieces. The drawers are really deep to, so I can get all my jeans in one drawer. Id much prefer Ikea stuff to Argos. We bought Argos drawers and they only lasted a couple of years before chipping and bottoms falling out etc.

    Thanks for the Ikea link. I did see them when I went last but wasn't sure as it had no handles. I suppose I could put handles on them?

    The top of each drawer has an inward slant, like a lip to put your fingers into so you can then pull the drawer out. Depending on your needs though, you could always add handles, theres no reason why you couldn't. :)

    Why not join your local freecycle group and see if anyone on there is giving one away? You are meant to offer something before asking for something, but if you explain in your ad that you will offer something shortly it might be okay.

    There might be people taking advantage of the fitted bedroom sales and clearing out their old stuff.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

    I always seem to have bad experiences with freecycle. It take more time (and time = moneys!) to scour than to go and buy stuff!

  • My daughter has had the Malm drawers from Ikea for 5 years now, they are still like new, very solid stuff.
