itunes download help please

My daughter got an ipod for xmas and I've been trying to download itunes onto her laptop with no success - I get it onto the laptop but then it says programme stopped due to data execution prevention -is there anyone who knows how to do this please as I'm getting increasingly frustrated and can't find a solution.
