Hi just wanted to know if anyone is NOT going to the sales?!. Is anyone trying to resist the temptation?.
I am telling myself " A sale is only a sale if its something you need".
I appreciate a lot of people stock up on pressies for next year, but I dont as I try and put something together myself or handmake something as presents. I am just thinking a start of an old style money saving year. just wanted to see!

no shopping for me!! I don't need anything so would not be saving by going to sales. I am definitely trying to spend less this year, just to see if I can!0

I'm not going either. I always hear about these fantastic bargains but I can never find anything!0

nope were not going. there are a couple of things we would like, but nothing that we have to have. so instead of taking 3 children 5 and under out and about round shops looking at things that we really don't need, were having a day in chilling.
playing with toy's from yesterday, eating lots of food and playing game's.
( my prob is i could spend money 24/7 given half a chance so it better for me not to go out anyway, lol):rotfl:0 -

I'm going to buy my christmas cards & wrapping for next year. Not family cards though as it would feel like tempting fate. I'm also looking to get the best deal possible on a Wii for my youngest ds who has saved his money for 6 months & has added his christmas money to it too yesterday. We'll go to Manchester tomorrow once I've checked out the prices online.
Apart from that I don't need or want to buy anything else. Agree with whoever said that a sale is only a bargain if you need it. I don't at the moment!0 -
I am not going either. No point as I learned to distinguish want from need quite some time ago and I need nothing
I am spending the time just now making a great pan of soup from a moosewood cookery book and hm rye and wholemeal bread, then we will go for a cycle ride if the weather warms up and then I will read in our upstairs, peaceful lounge. Ah the simple pleasures are bliss. No comparison to energy-draining crowded shops0 -
No, I'm not going to the sales...every time I've been I've found nothing in my size, or my colours, and I don't like the crowds.
But, if I'm near anywhere that sells Christmas wrapping paper and bits and pieces, I'll pop in and get things for next year - if they are reduced enough. Won't make a special trip though.0 -
Yipee likeminded souls:j ..... how lovely to hear that other people will not be going..... Other years I hve always felt that I am missing out big time and end up going, but all I have ever done is buy rubbish I don't actually need  i know there will be more stuff in the shops this year and they need to really sell to stay alive, but I really really do not need any more stuff. I can't cope with all the stuff I have at moment I am afraid so I do not need any more!0

Nope, nor me (for the first time ever ). I've decided it's false economy to buy next year's presents this early, as things that I think are suitable for peeps now.....seem to be not so good come the time 12 months later and I end up with a store cupboard full of stuff that I'm not quite sure what to do with.
I'm also going to try to collect money this year, instead of clutter and carp. First step in acheiving that is to avoid the sales.
