thanks for that link... I have just ordered a compost bin. I'm thinking of starting a collection of refuse bins.... ;D0

We had a similar scheme going in Surrey. A really good compost bin, (huge, hexagonal, slot-together jobbie, for £10.00). It was a really good one, and I'd been after a cheap offer for ages. Unfortunately, my local Council weren't taking part, and it took me ages to find someone who lived in the right borough.
Eventually, my ex-husband's sister's work-colleague ordered one for me! I was eternally grateful and sent him some home-produced eggs, (we have 3 back-garden hens), and a pot of homemade jam - as well as a cheque for the composter, of course!
It is bubbling away nicely now, filled with kitchen scraps, (only not much because of the hens!), wastepaper that's too mucky to re-cycle any other way, chicken poop, garden waste and 'used' woodshavings, (the hens again).
Fabulous things, compost bins - I love compost. It's the ultimate in 'waste not, want not'. I love it!A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
i've applied for this twice now and recieved both no probs, gave one to my father in law as hes out of the catchment area ;D ;DNobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission
Love doesn't make the world go round, it's what makes the ride worthwhile

I don't actually live in Lancashire myself so I can't get one - doh!
But I will keep hunting around for a free one in the Liverpool area!0 -
Got mine on Friday, brilliant tip - this is one of the best (and most useful) freebies available.
Thank you for the link VH.Dave P0 -
A couple of my gardening friends have these bins, (which I ordered for them ::)) they are very pleased with them and the bins are nice and large. ;D0

hi i order one every year there great. the first year i got a standard size last year i got a really big one which was enough to do most of my garden. will be ordering another one in April. You can only order one a year.0

Not sure if they're still doing it but Blackburn w. Darwen council were giving away bases for compost bins too, if anyone lives over there. The one I got from LCC was just the bin. Better than letting the lovely chaps at the tip recyle it them sell it back to us isn't it!0

Of course those of you ordering these for people outside the catchment area realise your Council Tax could be subsidising the full cost of these ...
Given that ALL local authorities have targets for reducing waste going to landfill, it's probably worth those of you who aren't aware of composting schemes in your area to hassle the council to set them up!Signature removed for peace of mind0
