I apologise if this seems critical but surely your OHs (if relevant)should put the effort in buying you presents - it all seems a bit lazy to me and rather sad. I would be devastated if I had to buy my own presents.

I start planning in October and it is amazing what you can get with some thought and spending a bit of cash. I put the effort in because she is worth it and believe that is what I should do. We have got a few days out, trip to Amsterdam through Easyjet (less than £100 for two), Afternoon tea and various other bits and pieces. This year I even branched out and bought some clothing (which was really brave of me!!!!!).

As well as gifts to eachother we treated ourselves to replastering our hall, stairs and landing - how glam is that ??!!
Well I guess we all have our reasons. Mo OH is a bit agoraphobic and rarely goes out-certainly not alone. We have all we need and if I want anything-or he wants anything we treat ourselves whenever. Although we like to celebrate Christmas we do believe that people go over the top on material things and that Christmas seems to have lost its meaning. You are right however-generally speaking and well done-I'd love that to be honest but for some people it just isn't realistic and e have to learn to accept that it will not happen. Having a cup of tea brought to me in bed when I had the flu was pricelss-getting all of the gardening and washing done too is priceless-gifts arent everything. I bought OH a camera as he always had to borrow mine and its just nice to have one each. I guess I used to feel peeved by the lack of gifts but I don't any more. Yes we treated ourselves also-to a new kitchen and new central heating and in this cold weather I feel spoilt!:j

    I bought myself:

Some new bottles of perfume: Ghost Deep Night and Armani Diamonds. Lush!
An ipod alarm clock - which has taken some getting used to!
    Ballymalloe Cookery course
McGee on Food & Cooking - the man is a genius :T

Bought for myself, because I'm single and my daughter is too young to go to the shops on her own :p Though she has learnt that I love 'the purple perfume' :D

I finally bought myself the kitchenaid I've wanted for the past 15 years! The OH and I got married in November, and we had a bit of money left over :T

We both treated ourselves to some Lush goodies in the sales as well :)
