Weve been here before. AVG has had a TON of problems this year and you well know it. Your just one of the 'lucky ones' if youve been trouble free

You keep slagging off AVG but it's only your opinion! Never had any problems with AVG on many different machines from 500Mhz up.

You on the other hand seem to find problems that others don't even on the various firewalls that you have recommended on here over the last few months! Different recommendations from you every few weeks!

Maybe im a little more thorough than most ;)

Do you REALLY want me to start pulling up all the AVG8 specific threads from this year?

  • I would not touch AVG - regardless of the problems. I still recall what they did to ewido - what a waste of a good anti spyware that was.

Avast has caused problems for some machines I have put it on but Avira is the one of choice for me at the moment

AVG 8.0 was O.K. here but with an old PC, limited RAM and turning off link scanning, it took too many resources. also didn't like the fact that I had to reconfigure my gmail.

Avast initially O.K. but too slow scanning, also resource use seemed to creep up over time.

Now trying Avira again, seems better than I remember, light on resources and relatively quick scanning. (Yes I know, no email scanning)
    Move along, nothing to see.

iv'e used avg and the only 1 i had problems with was avg 8 but that might be because i was running it on a low machine, now ive got rid of avg and use antivir the machine isn't slowed down as much
