Ok ive inserted a usb stick which i use a few times a week and its got some documents on it and i open my computer and click on the relevant icon for the pen drive but a box comes up saying the disk in dive D isnt formatted would you like to format it so i click no as i dont want to format it, is there a way i can get documents of the pen drive, i would have backed it up but i dont think i have done lately due to the fact its been fine in the time ive had it, im running xp if it helps, it was working the other day as i used it, ive tried it on a laptop and another PC but the same result, am i totally screwed or can i be saved, im trying some of the other usb ports or the 1s i know that work

Disk D is normally the CD rom drive if you have only one hard drive.
My only suggestion is to get the hoover out and suck out the USB ports and the USB drive of dust.
This could be preventing a good contact.

ok cool browntoa, ah well, does the chip fail at a certain point, i definitely be kicking one self now that i forgot to backup but i will do in future,
if by any chance i were to leave said usb stick in a computer while i format a hard drive and reinstall the OS would this affect the contents of the usb stick0
