Do you have 'A Plan' where you live? They'll search out the best deals for you, and will know who's good for insuring high risk drivers etc.0

Not that I know of - ill look into it0 -
That young marmalade site looks too good to be true! Cheaper than any insurance quote ive had plus you get a free car!
What exactly does 'The policy is a comprehensive policy, giving the driver 35% no-claims bonus at the end of the year which is transferable to other insurers' mean however?
I fear that after the first year you're going to be in hot water. Don't you earn 1 years no claim bonus with them? Providing you don't crash of course.
All that means is that after the 1st year, you can move to another insurance company and take your no claims bonus with you i.e. you can shop around0 -
I know this is a minefield as we went through the same thing over a year ago when my daughter (17) passed her test. My son is still a learner driver at 22( having been to Uni and didn't learn before he went, nether ds or dd could drive my car or huvbby's so we bought a brand new Toyota Aygo in my name for dd and dds and me to drive. The problem then cam as the car is reg to me and i already had a car so can't get NCB on two cars- won't go into all the details but spent hours on line trying to get ins got it with Direct line- only to find it was 'fronting' so cancelled and back to the drawing board. We were buying the car many miles from where we lived as the deal was so good and we were going to a UNi open day in that area so killed two birds with one stone. I explained to the garage the problems i was ahving with the ins and he suggested speaking to the company they dealt with- and this was the best thing I have ever done. I got the Ins last year for all 3 of us FC and with dd earning her own NCB as a named driver for £900.00, paying slightly les this year as I have stayed with this company till my son gets through his teast and next year when dd goes to Uni will transfer the car to her. as long as she stayys with the same company the NCB will com into effect. The ins is with Zurich, but I can't get anywhere near the quote on line, the Ins company were the ones who arranged everything this ins takes into account my own NCB even though I alreday have my own car with NCB. I don't know if i am allowed to say the name of the company so I won't but maybe if you call a local ins broker up they might be able to help, although my own who I had house ins with couldn't get me anything decent either. I think to get the best deal as mentioned you need a parent as a named driver on the ins. Let me know if you need more info. Good luck.0

My son is 18, will be 19 at the end of this month. He passed his test in September but has had car and insurance for nearly a year (so one year no-claim bonus). I have just been on a couple of the price comparison websirtes, the quotes range form £730 to £1700! He drives a W reg 800cc Daewoo Matiz.
The cheapest was Quinn Direct, they were the cheapest last year also. i will carry on looking and will also check with A-Plan insurance, our local broker.
Hope this helps :rolleyes:DFW Nerd No955 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'
