play.com and theft

Hi,
I am not normally one to check my bank account regularly but i did on tuesday and found a suspiscious transaction from play.com
I called them up to enquire, only to be told in a very casual manner that yes, someone has clearly accessed my account and started pilfering money and goods. I was startled by the casual attitude of the staff and almost "what do you expect" tone from the CSA.
I have now had nearly £300 taken out of my account in the course of a number of transactions, some of which i am sure could have been stopped as they were on the day i had the account stopped.
I for one will not be using play.com, not because they were hacked as this couls happen but their overall attitude to the problem. I will be stiking with amazon and others in the future, thankfully HSBC have been very helpful and are in the process or reclaiming my money.
Moral of the story, use cash and support the high street.

Are you sure your bank details weren't compromised and someone bought something from play using your card?"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

or there's a keylogger or other piece of software on your PC that logged your user-id and password
perhaps your version of windows is not fully up to date , the last update for windows patched a flaw that allowed this sort of thingEx forum ambassador

Seems like a more logical explanation than a play employee stealing your money!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I have noticed on a lot of forums recently that this is happening to lots of play.com customers, something does not sound right here and all those concerned have uptodate software etc0

Good luck finding that cash-taking amazon shop on the high street. Perhaps they will open up in old branches of Woolworths.0 -

I use Play.Com all the time and I've never experienced a single problem in all the years I've been ordering from them. I'm very impresed with their service and actually prefer them to Amazon.0

This time last year I had three lots of £40 charged to my account from play.com. I am not saying they are responsible, far from it. However their attitude when I phoned was less than useful0
